The Dept of Education & Science, its corporate sponsor Toyota Ireland and the Arts Council of Ireland fund NYOI with promotional support from Lyric fm, Ireland’s classical music channel and the IRISH TIMES.
The National Youth Orchestra of Ireland is an all-island organization. There are currently two orchestras: NYOI Junior Orchestra & NYOI Symphony Orchestra. All players must audition each season to keep standards high! The orchestras meet for a residential course twice during each season (at Christmas and in the Summer). They work with world renowned conductors, exciting soloists and the best tutors in each instrument. Each course is following by public performances both within Ireland and further afield. Recent concerts have taken place in Waterford, Belmullet, Dublin and Interlaken & Bern, Switzerland. More details can be found at www.nyoi.ie

Guest conductors between 1998 and 2005 include Atso Almila, Alexander Anissimov, Roberto Benzi, Andrey Boreyko, William Eddins, En Shao, Eri Klas and Takuo Yuasa.

"They would aim, in short for the moon. And the orchestra reached it!” THE INDEPENDENT (UK) wrote: “Go to hear them all. Go to be amazed.”

The National Youth Orchestra of Ireland enhances the musical experience of young musicians, contributes to cultural life in Ireland through live performance, recordings and broadcasts, and carries an image of excellence and creativity with it at home and abroad. Its future looks bright.
