EFNYO General Assembly in Lisbon, May 14 - 17, 2015
The EFNYO General Assembly in 2015 took place between May 14th - 17th in Lisbon, Portugal. The host of the meeting was our Portuguese member, the Jovem Orquestra Portuguesa, and its executive director, Alexandre Dias. The internal agenda focused on board elections, finance, membership, cooperation projects and networking issues.
The two afternoon sessions were dedicated to round table discussions and presentations with guest speakers from Portugal, including local key figures in the arts and music sector representing institutions such as the National State Arts Board, the Calouste Gulbenkian Foundation, the National Ballet of Portugal, the Leiria Music Festival, the Portuguese Chamber Orchestra, and other professional ensembles. The round table discussions focused on the topics “Young musicians meet young composers", “Health issues & body awareness for musicians” and “Arts funding on the outskirts of Europe: Creating a new, sustainable paradigm”.
With regard to membership applications, EFNYO was delighted to welcome two new full members and three cooperating members in the Federation. The Turkish National Youth Philharmonic Orchestra, represented by its artistic director, Cem Mansur, and the Jovem Orquestra Portuguesa (JOP) (associate member since 2013) were accepted as full members. Furthermore, the Arab Youth Philharmonic Orchestra, National Youth Orchestra of Canada, and Live Music Now Scotland were welcomed as cooperating members.
