EFNYO General Assembly in Bucharest, May 16 - 19, 2013
EFNYO organised its spring GA in Bucharest (Romania) between May 16th - 19th, 2013 in collaboration with our Romanian member, the Orchestra Romana de Tineret (National Youth Orchestra of Romania), and its artistic director Marin Cazacu. The conference focused on EFNYO membership development but also highlighted topics around music education and profession in Romania while aiming to enhance the development of EFNYO cooperation projects in South Eastern European countries. For this purpose, a round table and press conference were held on Saturday, May 18th, with guests from Romanian music institutions.
Arthur van Dijk, founder and first president of EFNYO, today honorary member of the Federation, talked about possibilities of cooperation of EFNYO with the Orchestra Network for Europe (ONE), an orchestras association gathering seven professional orchestras from several European countries. Such collaboration could include an extension of our programme MusXchange to include internships of pre-professional musicians in professional orchestras united in the ONE network. Arthur also issued his concerns about the future of orchestras and symphonic music in Europe, and the responsibility of musicians today to take their future in their own hands.
EFNYO was also delighted to welcome Julia Pouply, policy officer of Culture Action Europe (CAE), who presented major changes in the new culture programme of the EU to be launched in 2014.
